Keep a political group informed about upcoming events, news, calls for volunteer action, and so forth.
A. The ideal would be to get all of the information contributors and information consumers pointed to the same facebook fan page. Blam! All set.
B. The next best thing would be to use paper.li to access the facebook page, and other sources, and publish a weekly, online newsletter.
C. Another alternative would be to use an online (traditional) newsletter app and let it do the heavy lifting.
D. A final option would be to manually create a newsletter (i.e. using a MS Word template), upload it to scribd.com, and drop a link to that into everyone’s inbox.
This would be a great way to go because it’s free, easy to set up, and easy to use. It has all the advantages that Facebook fan pages offer. I love them.
The obvious downside is that many people aren’t on facebook yet, or they don’t check their news feed very often. A strictly facebook page solution isn’t practical (yet). Also, for those on facebook you have to keep the page active everyday with good, engaging content. This takes a good deal of time.
Because the cons outweigh the pros, I’m rejecting option A as a solution.
