Marketing materials - test your offer

I attended a session this morning that talked about the three components of a marketing piece - the target market, the offer and the copy.  I won't debate today additional items that should or should not be added to those three.  But within the context of these three, I was amazed that the speaker did not elaborate on his previous comments about testing and measuring in reference to the offer.

In-store Promotions - Cut Cost and Lead Time. Don't change packaging.

Running a promotion in store costs a lot of time.  And takes a lot of lead time.  Changing packaging to promote a contest or sweepstakes, a rebate or cause marketing - you have to be approved and in production in March (at the latest) to be on shelf with the promotional package by October!

Point of Purchase Display - increase compliance, easy to install

With most purchasing decisions being made in-store, it's critical for brands and products to maximize their communication in store.  Think about it - someone is standing in the aisle, trying to figure out if they're going to buy your product...or debating between buying your product and your competitor's.
